The commenter makes a good point, in that does it really count as openID adoption if you can't really TELL that the sites are using openID and there is no generic openID login?

On Dreamwidth, it seems, there is reportedly some feelings that openID integration has gone too far:

I personally haven't seen this kind of sentiment mentioned, so I can't really say much about why people feel this way.

Also, word of a troublesome (now fixed) bug at LJ. This was major flaw, and thankfully, it was discovered quickly.

Is it normal for bugs like this to slip through? 0_o

I expect a few more may wander in over the next day or two. Though, er, most of the people who have commented so far have been more, er, rational than some of the discussion I remember seeing previously. I did a bit of digging in previous entries, because I swear it was there that I saw the commentary that inspired me to make the entry. Though my framing of the question may have, er, discouraged some of the more outspoken voices from doing their thing.

In my experience you've got a gift for framing questions in such a way that most people end up thinking "yeah, that's not so bad" or "I agree with her." Witness the reactions to your proposal of turning off sharing and my proposal to turn off sharing. Same idea, different reactions.

I think it's more that I have a gift for framing questions to get the response that I want, because I recall more than one repost of a flouncer's bad idea where it was fairly universally agreed that it was a bad idea. Though the originals were generally shouted down as bad ideas to start with, thus the flouncing.

Heh. For some reason I had missed that he has his own blog elsewhere now. Ergo, it needs a feed.
