Ehhh? What the heck is going on here?

So those who are following LJ and/or care, LJ decided to disallow crossposting of comments to Facebook/Twitter from locked posts in the future. Some are satisfied by this, and others not, but oddly....

The head of Abuse Prevention at LJ suddenly starts to discuss issues of privacy/publicity with the disgruntled users, as well as criticizing DW's comment imports policy. And then Brenden, editor of ONTD, also begins to argue with users, but in a much less polite way.

Now we are seeing accusations that Brenden is secretly trolling?! (I have no idea whether this is true or not, but it's all over the news post comments.) Now people are starting to accuse others of being staff members in disguise. This is all getting stranger and stranger.

Could you give some links of the head of Abuse Prevention doing this? I'm going through links but there's a lot and I wanted to be sure I don't skip over them.

Thanks for the link. 0_o I hope LJ staff make some kind of public statement on this, because this is only causing people to become more paranoid. Even if he wasn't caught, he should have recognized that fanning the flames is not helping matters.

Thanks, that was an interesting read. re: the import feature ( and I don't know if it's appropriate to comment here? but the conversation is so spread out I don't know where to leave it ), I'd love to see dreamwidth add something where an openid user can opt out of having any of their content ever imported to dw. I have a few friends who don't want to be associated with dw for personal reasons, and that's why I haven't imported any of my older journal entries.

You can import the entries without the comments, if the comments are a concern.
