Apparently the LJ user rep is a paid position, to the tune of $200 a week! Now this, to my knowledge, has never been publicized. 0_o

Wow, over $800 a month at that. Not little for something that was always advertised as a volunteer position...

It's a pretty penny, for sure. I wonder how this information will affect the next election, and especially since most weeks, nothing happens and the rep doesn't really have to do anything. (or so it seems)

IIRC they posted the contract or agreement before, and it didn't include mention of this. I wonder when and why they decided to do this.

Well, it was said in the original post about it that:

LiveJournal will reimburse all travel or related expenses and offer an honorarium, which may be paid directly to the member or to a charity of his or her choosing.

(emphasis mine)

That said, I agree that it's not what I expected.

Hmmm, the way it is grouped there it does seem to just be for the annual meeting, not for the whole year. It can, of course, be read both ways, which might or might not be the intention.

This. That was my interpretation, especially given that they mentioned the possibility of paying it to a charity, I was assuming relative small potatoes, like $1000 for the year, $2500 tops. Not that I particularly wanted to be user rep once I saw the hassles involved. But.
