Srsly though, I'm envious and I hope we get something cool like that soon. >.>; How's LJ going to survive without ads though? Or are they not doing that much for them?

That is one thing I'm really wondering. Where is the lost revenue going to come from?

For the commenting, I'm not sure how they COULD even change it only for the cyrillic services users. So I think the non-Cyrillic side will get at least some of the design stuff.

It's especially interesting because I know that synecdochic has always maintained that ads on social media sites just aren't a viable source of revenue anyway - but of course that's probably more focused on English-speaking culture. I don't know how that equates to Russian-speaking culture, but it could be that the goodwill that removing the ads would generate, combined with the new features for Cyrillic services users, would translate to more income than the ads currently do.

Of course, this is all just hypothetical and I have no real clue what I'm talking about, so feel free to ignore this! :D

Actually, a huge point of contention between SUP and users is SUP's reluctance to allow people to put on their own ads (I think you can use google ads, but apparently that doesn't satisfy people). So I'm wondering now if SUP is going to have some kind of ad-revenue sharing agreement with people who are monetizing their blogs.
