Indeed, it does seem to exist on DW as a norm as well. I don't think LJ especially encourages pseudonomyity as much as it doesn't discourage it.
Yeah, I think this really needs to be handled as something between the pseudononymous person and non-pseud person, especially if this involves voluntary links. Since there is a diversity of situations w/ nonymity on DW, IMHO DW should ideally give people the maximum possible flexibility and have them work things out socially by themselves.
I think the presence of multiple cultures actually makes the site stronger, and more likely to attract new blood.
