I guess personally I feel more strongly about data portability than interop per se (defining data portability as the ability to extract my info from the service in a readable format). Pushing data/login to me is more of a convenience issue.
Indeed: I think in these discussions people do forget the people who use LJ/DW as an open (unlocked) blog, rather than as a locked form of communications.
