Been busy translating some stuff, although I am planning to put up some links about the latest Facebook events.

Hmm, at this point a lot of my thoughts about LJ's latest scandal regarding the Driving Revenue/Outboundlinks stuff can be summed up by this animated .gif. Here are tips on dealing with the issue, in case you haven't heard already.

Also, there's a comm on DW dedicated to creating exclusive content for DW for three weeks. Since most of the content in this blog is original and not cross-posted to anywhere else, I guess you could say I'm already 'participating.' Anyhow, this campaign makes me wonder whether it is true that one of the impediments to DW growth is that there is a dearth of original content on DW?

I think there's also a perception in the non-DW crowd that DW is just another clone, instead of a fork.
The facts that it's less active than LJ, and that you have to either move completely, or keep several reading lists impedes things too.

I am totally salivating over the upcoming new post page, because I have this secret fantasy of it being the thing that start making people who try out DW feel like it's a "fork" instead of a "clone" (even though by open source standards, DW is TOTALLY a major, successful fork, with an extremely active development community--which is rare!)

It's going to look very, very different from LJ's page, so that it can accommodate draft/scheduled posts and and and I AM SO PSYCHED ABOUT THAT. Besides being an awesome feature I want, it means that a new person who goes to make a post is going to have some very obvious evidence that DW is doing new things. And if they want to make scheduled posts on LJ, it means doing them on DW and crossposting.

I so wish scheduled posts was live now. I write best late at night, but my main source of readers is an aggregator that's active in the mid morning. Scheduling will get my posts noticed more, the election's over next week. Still, it remains a damn cool feature.

I think the poor comment UI generally doesn't help, most peoples first impression is a badly laid out comment form with an OpenID taskflow that still confuses me. Need to work on that. Been saying it for a year, but...
