Apparently, my wordpress blog is blocked by the Great Firewall of China.

This is not a wordpress.com blog, but something hosted on space I pay for and with my own domain name. I'm at a loss to understand why my site was censored. Most of the posts there are about a certain light novel series. This is simply strange. The only reason I found out was because I sometimes talk to someone who lives in China who is studying English and likes to look at English translations for fun, and I invited her to go see the blog, and she told me she couldn't see it. 0_o I used some tests, and it really does seem to be the case that the my site is inaccessible from China.

In other news, ~1/3 through.

Whaaaaaaaaat. There's nothing political on your blog!

I bet it's because you used the word "revolution" in three posts and "overthrow" in two posts and "conspiracy" in five posts while writing about Saiunkoku. (I checked.)

Is it the only content on its IP address? If not, one of the other sites on the same IP may have offended. (This happened all the time when I was a domain-atrix.) Or it's also possible that if you recently set it up, the previous content on the IP may have offended.

Depends on the hosting company and their policies; my previous employer did not do this at request, however, one could purchase the use of a dedicated IP address without the expense of a dedicated server.

Check with them and ask; the worst they can say is no.

How bizarre! Maybe someone else on your name server is the actual site they want to block?

You should get your friend to report it to Herdict. It's a project that gathers reports on what and where internet sites are inaccessible. They may be able to help test accessibility to your blog.

In a sense, that's a badge of honour.

You're...banned from China? You must have such controversial material here. Not. That's pretty weird.

But is it because of the website, but if they're just banning sites because of the use of Censor, without actually looking at the context, that's kind of lame, but rather humorous in a black sort of way. It seems pretty ineffective if you're banning non-hazardous sites and potential missing "hazardous" ones. Very bizarre.
