You may now search public Dreamwidth entries, provided that the user has not opted out of either site-search, or had already disabled search-engine indexing. This is a great feature. However, one thing which I did wish it had was an ability to order by date (I guess that now it is ordered according to relevance?). I'm not sure whether it does exact phrase searching (in quotes? "") [EDIT: It now has these abilities.]

IMHO, I think it would be useful to have as an option for all layouts, "hide icons," where all users would simply show up posting as though they had no icon, especially as that would save BW. I also wonder how this situation would be handled on DW, as there the option to default to non-explicit default icon is not there, since DW doesn't have that rule about how default icons must be non-explicit.
It also seems as though somehow the latest posts feed has been cleaned up somewhat. Well, cleaned up for the purposes of hiding egregious spambots; there is a lot of NSFW content there, which I have no idea is legit or not, and there are still spambots there, but fewer of the 'huge post with a bajillion spam links' variety.

Date: 2009-10-20 06:13 am (UTC)Yeah, that would be useful, especially for the mobile users, who have to pay by the MB. Also for people who just want the pages to be a tad faster. I use a firefox extension to turn images off, a lot, and with LJ and DW, in firefox turning images off screws up the threading on LJ comments. :(
