I think OAuth is a good idea, but I'm not sure it's less cumbersome than openID. The main reason that it seems to be more userfriendly in implementation is that sites often use the format where it's a button that says 'Twitter login' or 'login with Gmail.' I'm not sure DW is eager to go in that direction.
