Well, there's the spinoff series(?) where Enokitzu is on crack because he's fabulous like that. And there's the 今昔続百鬼 series that stars one of the minor characters in the main series and operates on a 180 degrees principle from it. As in, the dude in Akihiko's position is a fat otaku (as much as you can get one in postwar Japan, anyway) who is out to prove that youkai are real dammit and his long-suffering sidekick who is smarter than he is but happens to lack a formal education.
