Delicious has been acquired by Avos.

It seems moving your data over to the new Delicious will be an opt-in process. That is, if people don't explicitly agree to the AVOS Terms of Service and consent to having their data moved, it's not going to be on the relaunched site.

I have to admit a bit of concern about the memorial accounts. I wonder how many people have died or abandoned their accounts, but people are still using them for bookmarks?

A lot, I would think. I know a lot of people who use delicious as a way for searching for links about a topic. This will preserve Delicious as a service for active bookmarkers, but kind of gut it for those who were using it as social search engine.

I am more interested in the "permanent bookmarking" idea than the "social sharing" thing, so I hope that aspect continues. I'll probably back up my bookmarks before the transfer.
